The FortiClient VPN installer differs from the installer for full-featured FortiClient. When the free VPN client is run for the first time, it displays a disclaimer. You cannot configure or create a VPN connection until you accept the disclaimer: Only the VPN feature is available.

This article explains how to configure the IPSec VPN Client to site feature on Fortigate device so that the devices can be accessed and remote local area network safely
How to configure
- Login to Fortigate by Admin account
- User & Device -> User Definition -> Click Create New to create an account for VPN user
- Choose Local User -> Click Next to continue
- Enter name and password for VPN user -> Click Next to continue
- Enter mail for VPN user
- Choose Enabled -> Click Next to continue
- User & Device -> User Groups to create User group VPN for VPN user and add user you want to connect VPN -> Click OK to save
- Policy & Objects -> Addresses to create address ranges for internal VPN networks
- Create VPN tunnel client to site
- VPN -> IPSec Wizard -> Choose Remote Address -> Enter name -> Click Next to continue
- In Incoming Interface: Choose Port WAN of device
- In Authentication Method: Choose Pre-shared Key
- In Pre-shared Key: Enter key you want to authenticate
- In User Group: Choose VPN group which was created before
-> Click Next to continue
- In Local Interface: Choose Port LAN
- In Local Address: Choose address range for IPSec LAN which was created before
- In Client Address Range: Enter IP for VPN client
-> Click Next to continue
- Click Create to finish
- Check information
- Create policy allow VPN user access Internet
- In Incoming Interface: Choose VPN policy which was created before
- In Outgoing Interface: Choose Port WAN
- In Source: Choose All
- In Destination: Choose All
- In Service: Choose All
-> Click OK
- Download and install FortiClient VPN from Fortinet
- Enter all information -> Click Save
- Enter password of User VPN -> Click Connect
- Finish VPN connection

If you have not already downloaded and installed Fortinet Client, please see the procedure for doing so before you begin.

1. Once Fortinet is installed and opened, click the “Configure VPN” button at the bottom.
2. The “New VPN Connection” configuration screen should appear.
- VPN: Be sure that “SSL-VPN” is selected.
- Connection Name: This will be how you label the connection.
- Description: This field is optional.
- Remote Gateway: This will vary from client to client. The format is as follows clientname.vpn.magna5cloud.com
Example: magna5.vpn.magna5cloud.com
- Port: This can be left as 443. However, you may need to use a specific port in order to connect. If you are a customer that requires a different port, it will be provided to you.
- Client Certificate: None
- Authentication: Check the Prompt on login option.
- Be sure to check the Do not Warn Invalid Server Certificate box.

3. Once finished, click the Save button at the bottom-right. This should take you to the login screen.
If you are using a MAC to connect with Forticlient, you will have to enter your domain username on the Add Connection screen before clicking the Add button to proceed.
- VPN Name: Should display the Connection Name you set in the previous step.
- Username/Password: You will sign in using your own domain credentials.
- Click Connect at the bottom.
4. If your connection established successfully, you will see a screen similar to the image below with a Disconnect button at the bottom.

- Review your connection settings and assure each field is populated correctly.
- From the home screen, click the 3 horizontal bars, then “Edit the selected connection” in order to make any necessary changes.

- Confirm your device has a stable internet connection.
- Reboot the device experiencing issues connecting.
- If you are still unable to connect, you may reach us for support at 844-462-4625 option 3.
